People in America have the strangest eating habits. Rather than a sacred ritual that is enjoyed, many folks simply cram food in on the go. In those instances even the best foods will not digest well. And because a lot of those habits come from childhood, it is safe to say that the example we see set in childhood is usually what we practice unless we catch on to some better way to perform.
We know that the human body is energy, something like 99.999 formless and the rest is what we call solid form. We should choose food with that in mind. Find foods that are alive with energy; then, eat them with consciousness and be grateful that our bodies can incorporate the energy of the foods we are eating. Foods ingested with a blessing or giving of thanks go down much better than foods eaten without that consciousness.
Children brought up in a home that celebrates mealtimes will have better digestion as adults. The dinner table is not the time for interrogation or reprimand. If children grow with a bad frame of reference around mealtime they may grow into adults that dread sitting down with others to eat. Their digestion will definitely not be good unless they get help later on to realize the source of the problem.
Everyone in a family is not alike as to food preferences. Foods easily ingested by one child cause allergic reactions in their sibling. This one fact alone is cause for arguments at meal time in many homes; and this lack of consideration will result in at least a few children with chronic indigestion and bad eating habits for a lifetime.
So how does all of this relate to losing weight and being healthy? Foods not digested take more energy to move through the system than they lend to building the body. Foods not fully digested not only move through the body slowly, they use up precious energy, putrefy in the stomach and small intestine, and over years, line the colon walls. Over the years allergies come on board as well as pounds. At this point it takes concentrated and disciplined effort to change the tides, that is lose weight and feel better about self.
Is it possible to change eating habits after years of abuse? Of course it is possible and it's never too late. Will you have to give up everything you have a taste for? No, you will make some changes and simply eat more consciously, according to who you are and your body type. You will seek balance.
Your game plan will be to give yourself leverage. Youll never have to starve, maybe eat smaller and more consciously arranged meals, get a juicer and perhaps eat 75% raw or lightly cooked foods. Your food combining will be to eat fruits alone, perhaps in the morning, to eat proteins with vegetables, vegetables with carbohydrates, bread alone or with raw vegetables. You'll simply make new choices.
Conscious food choices, gratitude, relaxing meals and pure water all lend to the health and radiant look we feel good wearing, no matter what age we are. Every choice for health and more discipline will empower you in every aspect of life. Every self-enhancing choice will also add to the environment and give a great example to the next generation. You will have the mind and body you want at all stages in your life. That's really healthy aging.
